What We Do

Protecting Wildlife Through Research, Technology, and Community

Over 20% of the mammal species of the worlds are bats. Bats are long-lived, intelligent, and social animals that play a number of important roles in our ecosystems. Unfortunately, bats are in decline world-wide. We’ve dedicated our careers hoping to help them recover.

As the only bat research lab in Ohio, we work year-round to protect local wildlife through field research, data synthesis, and community engagement. Using innovative IT solutions, we study bats in their natural habitats and turn data into action—connecting science and people to safeguard biodiversity across Ohio and beyond.

Outreach & Education

We inspire curiosity and stewardship through festivals, classroom programs, and interactive learning experiences.

Innovating with Technology

We use cutting-edge technology to study bat behavior and protect critical habitats.

Evidence-based Science

We conduct research that informs habitat management and conservation planning across Ohio and beyond.

Tackling White-nose Syndrome

Our research and partnerships help identify and protect remnant bat populations.
