Science and Innovation Against White-Nose Syndrome

Through research, monitoring, and innovation, we are helping bats recover from one of the most devastating wildlife diseases in North America.

White-nose syndrome has devastated bat populations across Ohio, but some colonies still persist—and we are always searching for more. Our team conducts winter surveys in natural and artificial roosts to locate and monitor surviving bats, using ultraviolet light photography to assess wing damage and infection severity. Guided by these data, we collaborate with partners to test and apply treatments that support recovery and help protect these remaining populations.
